Chapter 4 Success – Case study (negotiation)

I negotiated the contract (5 decisions) as a manager in Universal Communications. This company is powerful media group. They are interested in Kensington united (football team) because Kensington will bring Universal advertising effect that can extend sales in UK and Asia market. We concluded 5 decisions after the conference.

1.     A four-year contract.

We sponsor €55m  for a four-year. And If Kensington win the European Cup we pay additional €15m.

2.     Advertising at football game

We agreed with the 4 topics, 1st is four huge billboards advertising the company at one side on wall. 2nd is our company’s logo on flags at all entrance. 3rd is the main stand to be renamed the Universal Communications stand. 4th is the company’s name in the billboard on near roof.

3.     Kensington’s new ventures

When Kensington start new ventures related competitive company they must consult us about new ventures.

4.     Providing free bus

We provide the free bus that is printed our company logo to Kensington.

Apple starts to plan selling 5^th generation full size iPad. I was impressed because I’m planning to buy iPad. It’s great news and I was surprised by iPad Air. IPad Air has 4 key points. Key1 is size and Wight. Apple slashed pad’s weight by 28%, and made it thinner and 9% narrower. IPad Air is just 1pound about 450g. Key2 is speed. New iPad increase its performances. It is faster than previous one. Key3 is buttery life is improved. Apple claims iPad can keep using over 10hours with small buttery. Key4 is price. Price is same as $499 base price of previous model. In addition, Apple is going to introduce new version of I pod mini. But any spec is secret. Price will be$399 base price, it depends on the storage. Actually many people use Apple’s products, In contrast price is still high. For example Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 is $360, Dell’s tablet is $150. Apple, however, stands optimistic and strong position compared to other company. Because they have variety type of application, any other company provide less than Apple.

Healthy food must need eating for children (Wall Street Journal)

Summary and introduction

School encourage children should eat more healthy food like fruit, vegetable, and row fat food.  Proliferation cooking books and encouraging cooking increase with rapid rate. Many parents think they want children to eat row fat, healthy foods, lunch box.  But children especially  may loath to eat fruit and vegetable.  Many parents make lunch box for their children’s health.  This has been enthusiasm.  Many school prohibit to bring snack or tips.  There actually are a lot of school that permit bringing them, but they might have rules that children who want to eat snack or chocolate can’t eat with children who eat healthy food.  Experts say that the ideal lunch is including abandon protein, whole grain, vegetables, and fruit.  But children don’t want to eat them, they encourage two points.  1^st is lunch box should be putted little whole grain and high calorie food and high fat food.  In contrast a lot of fruit and vegetables.  If there are not much whole grain and high fat food, we can expect children will able to eat the lunch box. In addition some food blogger suggest children should be involving lunch process.  This is good education and teaching the value of healthy food.

My opinion

The phenomenon is the big change for loosing future risks.  These day many lethal illness is caused by high calorie or fat food and 00000000.  If many children were educated about health and food, they can live longer than now with good healthy condition.  Much tax is spend for critical illness: cancer, diabetes, high blood presser.  Nowadays I believe health is money. In contrast Japanese government have been encouraged the row fat.

Visiting Kawasaki Heavy Industries Motorcycle & Engine

Kawasaki Heavy Industries Motorcycle & Engine is a division of Kawasaki Heavy Industries that produces motorcycles, ATVs, utility vehicles and jet-ski. I visited the development center for professional motorcycle race. I saw the entire building and was explained about their products and professional motorcycle race. They develop the professional motorcycle in this center for winning the race. Because the race deserve the best advertisements in the motorcycle market that motorcycle division provide. But professional motorcycle almost cannot generate the profit for the reason consuming lots of money including material, advertisement and developing cost. They have the meeting with Japanese members every day because Japanese office has the function of the decision for products. I guess that Japanese companies are situated same standing, I can imagine the difficulty of working with foreign affiliates.

Visiting Kimberly-Clark

Kimberly-Clark is an American personal corporation that produces paper products including tissue, diaper, medical related products. I visited the factory in California near CSUF as visitation that aimed knowing about American company. They proud of their products because of they can maintain their productivity and higher quality for long time. I will explain 2 point that I was impressed. 1^st is the automatic producing system. They have the vast factory, but there are 400 employees in their factory. I suppose that American companies have better automatic producing system than Japanese. They completely have logical and coherent methods in their organization. The only 400 employees profit efficiency, productivity and cost restriction that is possible lower prime cost. Moreover they have only 3 IT expertise for improving and developed their systems. They believe that lower employees provide lower prime cost and highly developed automatic systems increase productivity and reducing entire cost. 2^nd is the simple plant. Their factory is very simple for the purpose of cleanness and avoiding detective products that have clashed tissue and missed print. The detective products deserve the biggest problem in any company in their factory for the reason that decreasing the cost controlling effects reducing the profits. In consequence 2 points basically influence their original logic and organization. They can realize the sustainable development to maintain their profits.

UNIT3-P29 TASK

1.     How can Al-Munir Group make guests feel ‘special’ and ‘highly valued’?

- Discount the price, coupon, free breakfast, providing information about hotel and around the hotel.

2.     What can the group do to a) reward loyal customers, and b) persuade guests who have stayed once to return?

a- Point card, gift (if customer is birthday, we present the gift)

b- Discount the price, upgrade the room, extra service (welcome drink, free breakfast, and travel information), better amenities.

 

3.     What can be done to make staff more motivated and customer-oriented in their approach to their work?

- Increase their salary, studying outside (employees can select the place, for instance expensive hotel and restaurant, Disney land and so on)

4.     What questions should the management be asking in order to gather information for an accurate, up-to-date profile of each guest? For example: How did the guest find out about the hotel?

- How often? How many? Why do you chose this hotel? The hotel only check the score sheet. They should add question (why, what do you think?)

5.     How can the group maintain its relationship with guests once they have left its hotel?

6.     What other actions can the group take to improve customer loyalty, increase the average scores in the next customer satisfaction survey and get back its four-star rating?

- Providing information of region (restaurant, café. place) Sending the e-mail (attached the land scape picture),  Creating APP for information including 1-5, customer easily access and use the system.

I and our group ask someone for survey of WSJ. First brainstorm with your group as to how to create your own video promoting The Wall Street Journal.  Think of what you want to say, where you want to shoot, what you want it to look at and sound like. Self Introduction

I’m Hiroki Nasuda. 

I’m working at Taica Corporation as a designer.
Our company is mainly consisted of 2 divisions: one is hydrographic division, and another is α-gel division. I am working in the hydrographic division and I am in charge of the Chinese and Japanese markets. In the future I may also be in charge of the US market because of the expanding sales.

I have some things that I like and dislike. Traveling, reading books, cooking and drawing picture are my favorite things. In contrast, I dislike playing sports but I like watching it.

Reading Books is my most enjoyable activity. When I was a college student, I often read books very much. In total, I read 800 books as a college student. Nowadays, I often read the English literature or novels by Salinger and Dan Brown. Before visiting the US, I read Agatha Christie. If time permits, I would like to read more American or English literature. 

I like movies and music. Music is especially good for me. Music makes me feel comfortable and relaxed. In other words, I can release any stress when I listen to it. 

In college, I accomplished the capability of creating new designs, so I can work as a designer. I studied very hard and devoted half of my life to achieve this past goal of creating new designs.

Then I have another goal because I have already been working as a designer. Of course, it is to improve my English. Our company depends on foreign countries. Sales have been increasing to 60-70% at a rapid rate.
If I can succeed in improving my ability, our company will get more sales because I can achieve this   promotions.

I need more income and fame. I am too busy to do anything. I wish I had more free time. Time is finite. My job requires a lot of my time.
